Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world to become an icon of Casablanca, Morocco. This mosque stands majestically on the foundation stones on the Atlantic ocean.
The mosque which was built in 1986 and in 1993 it has 210-meter-high minaret (689 feet) at the same time become the world's tallest minarets. With an area of 970 000 square meters, the mosque Hassan II was designed by French architect Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues.
The design of the building is a blend of Andalusian Islam and Modern architecture, so that this mosque looks like a large monument that stands in a spectacular location with a platform overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Hassan II Mosque was built on reclaimed land, almost half of the mosque is located on the Atlantic ocean water. It is inspired by the verses of the Quran:
"He created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is His throne (before that) on the water, that He might try which of you is better charity." (Surah Hud: 7)

Tarawih prayer in this mosque took place twice a night that ten cycles tarawih prayer at 21.00 till 22:30 o'clock and 00:03 o'clock until eleven rak'ahs before dawn as tarawih including Witr prayer. Every evening the priest read a juz, so that on the night of the 30th of Ramadan he has mengkhatamkan 30 chapters of the Qur'an.
